Colour of the Year 2018: Ultra Violet

“Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now.” Introducing the 2018 colour of the year, Ultra Violet.  Colours have amazing power when it comes to creating emotion and subconscious thoughts within a space. Implement a design strategy using violet this year. This tone is often associated with mystery, independence and creativity. The use of violet in gathering places is known to energize and inspire connection. Often found in places of meditation, ultra violet is a beautiful way to provoke experimentation, relaxation and individuality. It is a colour that reflects the unknown and is often associated with the cosmos and limitless possibilities. Icons such as David Bowie and Prince are known to have adopted this shade, bringing a dramatic flair to performances. With the world we live in becoming more and more futuristic with the development of new technologies, the team at Pantone decided on Ultra Violet to reflect on the future of design, technology, culture and innovation. This colour stands as a representation for growth and creativity. The pantone colour of the year is beautiful when incorporated into a design with complimentary colours. From floral pastels to deep burgundy, Ultra Violet captivates and energizes. Match it with deep reds and dusty ice blues for a killer contrast, or single out the blue based purple on its own and use neutrals to add extravagance to your display or interior. We love this in textures and gradients,  and brings a sophisticated edge to window displays and store interiors. View our seasonal fashion VM gallery...

Spring Vintage Market VM

Market style set ups with vintage elements are extremely on trend in visual merchandising in 2015. Over the weekend VM+ set up a beautiful intricate visual merchandising activation for Indooroopilly Shopping Centre for their Spring Vintage Market. Our pallet bars were accompanied with floral print backing and bunting to add a pastel touch to the wood finish. Natural wooden crates, astro turf, white tolix stools, large umbrellas and moss ball chandeliers all added to the pallet bars to create a fresh rustic eatery for the pop up retailers in the Gourmet Fresh precinct. Always a favourite, our market carts were revamped to encompass the vintage pastel theme. These quintessential carts were painted a pastel blue, pink and yellow ensuring an idyllic display unit for retailers. Other rustic elements were dispersed within the space to add to the look and feel of the vintage spring market focus. This charming chandelier is a new addition to the family. Wicker and moss balls, peony flowers, ivy and greenery create a lush overgrown effect with hints of bright pink to catch the eye. TPH 20 Years Celebration

As our sister company The Prop House hits 20 years old- and what is there to do but throw a fabulous party! 2015 marks the 20th year of The Prop House and 20 years of colourful events, colourful props, colourful themes – 20 years of COLOUR!  The theme of this particular event was luxe black and gold. Styling of the warehouse venue included gold mirrors, giant letters and peacock chairs- less was more for our event! The venue was specifically chosen as our director Jano Dawes wanted to hold the celebration in a space that was previously used as a PROP HOUSE showroom. Over the years The Prop House has moved throughout inner Brisbane and we took this opportunity to go back to one of our more favourite homes at Montague Road in West End. The large empty canvas space and rustic brick walls were perfect for the tasteful black & gold themed party dedicated to an extravagant and colourful company. Suspended above guests’ heads were mirrored shards reflecting the light and creating a regal atmosphere. Food and drink a plenty, gold metallic tattoo artist and even muscle men in tow, this night was sure to entertain. Our mini prop stylists showed off our brand new peacock chairs, latte rugs and gold drum coffee tables. Jano took this opportunity to announce the release of her book COLOUR that showcases and celebrates 20 years of styling beautiful corporate events, weddings, trade shows, visual merchandising, Christmas sets ups, prop hire and  COLOUR. Congratulations to our fearless leader Jano Dawes on this fantastic accomplishment! To see more amazing photos of this event (and...

Spring Summer 2015 Floral Trend

As winter winds down, the next seasons’ visual merchandising displays are quickly installed. But what will you see this season? Along with the on trend visual merchandising displays that we’ve previously blogged about- we couldn’t let Spring pass without mentioning FLORALS! This classic trend is a much loved go to for Spring for obvious reasons. Its also an easy and beautiful way to add colour and excitement to a display. This season make sure to use florals in an interesting way to steer away from that been there- seen that rut that many floral displays can fall into. Try to think outside the box- our gorgeous faux pink peonies look stunning suspended from above inside bamboo birdcages for a garden themed display. Florals also make for a striking backdrop. Think on mass flowers and foliage to make a statement! Cherry blossoms are going to be very popular in visual merchandising displays for SS15. The pink or white delicate flower creates a more subtle element to add a pastel display. To create a floral spring summer display contact one of our stylists on 3217 4500 to obtain a quote.  ...

Japanese Tranquility Garden at Brisbane Airport

This week our team was busy installing an exciting activation at Brisbane International Airport. Teaming up with Bullet Studios, the VMPlus crew was ready to promote Qantas’ recently introduced direct flights from Brisbane Airport to Narita Airport by creating a Japanese oasis within the bustling terminal. The Japanese tranquility garden with tatami mats, bamboo greenery and red and black colour palette is a small taste of what travelers can expect in Japan. The enclosed space complete with floor pillows, Japanese lanterns, soothing music, Torii gate and wishing tree is a comforting, quiet space to reflect and wind down between flights. If you’re an avid flyer you might want to check out this exciting activation when you’re next stopping over! This display took 8 hours and a large VMPlus team to set up. See below for some behind the scene progress shots and watch how we create an installation from start to finish! Thanks to our friends at Bullet Studios for the video!...
