What is visual merchandising?

Visual merchandising (VM) used to be commonly known as window dressing. It is the act of creating a visually appealing display or window that helps you sell your merchandise / product. VM involves the use and manipulation of attractive product displays and retail floor plans to engage customers and boost sales activity.

What areas do you service?

The VM+ team will happily travel throughout South East Queensland even though we are based in Brisbane. We do add traveling time to our final invoice – however this amount is always agreed to before our visit.

Will you visit my store?

We will visit you however firstly we will discuss your needs and perhaps request photos of your space before we decide on a site visit.

How does VM increase sales?

Our job as visual merchandisers is to attract the customer’s eye to YOUR store and your product. Once they are looking, this is half the battle – to break through what everyone else is offering. With a display as fabulous as the one VM+ will create for you, customers will flock in store!  The selling is then easy for you as we have created the desire!

What makes a good VM display?

There are many elements that go into a good VM display: balance, colour, form, props, signage, lighting – to name a few.  All of these things combine to create impact, to inspire your potential customers to buy and to entice them into your store. Actually a good visual merchandiser makes a good VM display!

Why consider a career in VM?
Every day is different and you have the possibility to be creative with all you do. Many jobs are directed by “head office” however it is the edge you place on your displays, the added extras and the attention to detail that makes a great visual merchandiser.
Employ a professional VM or DIY?

Honestly this choice is yours to answer.  Remember that a professional VM will charge you for their service – this is to compensate for the hours (sometimes years) or experience and knowledge that this person has developed honing their skill, their art form. If you choose to DIY – are you really going to get the polish, the expertise and the finishing touches you will from a trained and skilled VM…..?

Do you offer VM training to my retail staff?

We can train anyone who wants to learn! You don’t have to have a creative bone in your body – we will still find the spark that ignites the flames of visual merchandising and teach you the art form of VM. We have structured training in our studio, we can also cater a course designed to suit your needs.

Can I hire props or backdrops from VM+?

Yes and no depending on the job, just ask! We leave a lot of the prop hire to our fabulous big sister: The Prop House who we share a building with. Their range is awesome – check them out at www.theprophouse.com.au.

Can we talk to you about Christmas decorations early in the year?

For us Christmas is a 12 month season!  We start work, designing and selling Christmas to some clients as we are packing away other client’s decorations from the year just finished. We order our overseas product by May each year so the earlier you talk to us, the sooner we can cater our product to suit your needs. For larger orders we will even design and bring in specialised product just for you.
