Last month we had the pleasure of walking the streets of Hong Kong obtaining international VM inspiration to bring back to Brisbane! As we perused the shop windows at Ocean Terminal Kowloon, it was evident that high fashion retailers from Ralph Lauren to Georgio Armani and Dior, all have children’s clothing outlets for even the pickiest little prince or princess.
In the store windows of Hong Kong it is clear that no expense is spared as large floral arrangements, suspended elements and custom feature props are evident in every fashion window.
Ralph Lauren and Dior both opted for lavish floral arrangements to make a statement. Dior used simple furnishing in bright red to contrast with the green foliage and pastel florals to create a standout display. Ralph Lauren chose a more intimate garden party set up with bunting, hydrangeas and garden furniture to showcase the smart casual garments on display.
Tommy Hilfiger used bright colours and shapes in their visual merchandising windows to create eye catching windows (love the ‘A’ covered in buttons!).
Custom made props were also widely seen in VM windows. Stella McCartney Kids had a fun over-sized robot created for this display, the feet doubling as plinths for the mannequins. Dolce & Gabbana created this luxe market cart that works perfectly with their bright children’s pieces.
This display used a grid to suspend ribbons, the clothing was then attached amongst the ribbons in a flatlay formation, eliminating the need for a mannequin.
In shot, the art of outstanding visual merchandising is alive and well in Hong Kong, as is the need for gorgeous childrenswear.
