We are so inspired by everything colourful, festive and fruity this spring summer season. The Rio Olympics has all eyes turned on the quirky, vibrant lifestyle and atmosphere of the South & Central American continents. Think lashings of graphic prints in eye popping hues, tropical accents such as fruit and flowers and neon lighting to take the party from day to night.
Once upon a time precious metals were steeped in mystery and reserved only for nobility or the privileged classes to indulge in. Thankfully times have changed and we can all enjoy the radiance of gold, the shimmer of silver and the warmth of copper. This is far and away the biggest trend we’ve seen across the globe in the past few years and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Shine on this spring summer season!
Fashion’s love affair with boho isn’t going anywhere anytime soon with designers taking their cues from Southern California – where surf meets sand and desert winds. Music festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury have become the new catwalk for style icons of the younger generation to showcase their looks and boho fashion reigns supreme. The ingredients to nailing this trend are feathers, lace, cactii, dreamcatchers, skulls, driftwood, teepees and leather. All you need now is to find a pony and ride off into the sunset.
It’s a little bit industrial, a little bit retro and a whole lot of fun! Release your inner geek with paired back furniture and quirky accessories. Elements to include when creating this style: metal, concrete with timber, clear or amber glass, exposed lightbulbs and a little bit of botany. The lab coat is optional.
A Midsummer’s Dream
This trend started with designers such as Alexander McQueen, Lanvin and Gucci incorporating swans, snakes, birds and bugs as the new “animals of interest” in their runway shows. Slightly surrealist, this look is riding on the tide of ‘pyjama dressing’ with sleepwear such as slips dresses, bra tops and matching silk suit sets the new outerwear. Intoxicating florals, dripping candelabras, luxurious fabrics and embellishments and all manner of creepy crawly critters will create this dreamy atmosphere.
Into the Jungle
Want a look that feels fresh and cool for spring? Then look no further than the jungalow style. And if you haven’t heard the ‘jungalow’ name before, mark it down, as there’s no better way to describe the trend for all things tropical (and a little bit vintage) we’ve seen storming the globe. This style is all about bringing the eclecticism of nature and the wild indoors but we love it most when pared back with the new neutrals – wicker, leather and lashings of white. Key motifs will have you brushing up on your plant names with banana leaf, monstera, philodendron and fiddle leaf fig prints are still wildly popular. In this world, there is never enough greenery.
